Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By using Cookbook Social, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

You must provide accurate account information and may not impersonate another person or use the service for unlawful purposes.

Signing in on a device keeps that device signed in until you sign out. You are responsible for the devices where your account stays signed in; you can end sessions on all devices from Settings. We may also end active sessions — for example when you change your password, when you delete your account, or when we detect signs that a session has been compromised.

3. Recipes and user content

You keep ownership of recipes, images, comments, profile information, and other content you add.

By posting content, you grant Cookbook Social permission to store, display, process, and share that content inside the application as needed to provide the service.

Do not upload content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, infringing, misleading, or violates someone else's rights.

4. AI recipe imports

AI-powered recipe imports help extract recipes from supported public video or social media links. Recipes may also be translated into the application language using AI. Smart (semantic) search uses AI to rank recipes by meaning; results may be imperfect or may not exclude every unwanted ingredient (for example, "without eggs"). AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, mistranslated, or require additional review before use. Ingredient names, quantities, units, and steps may differ from the original source due to AI processing.

You are responsible for reviewing ingredients, allergens, cooking times, temperatures, food safety, and instructions before using or sharing any recipe.

5. Plans, credits, and API keys

Some features may require a subscription, credits, or your own AI API key. Feature limits, pricing, and availability may change.

If you use BYOK features, you are responsible for the third-party provider account, API usage, billing, rate limits, and compliance with that provider's terms.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in Profile → Settings (or via Google Play for purchases made there); cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Prices and billing periods are shown before purchase and may change with prior notice. Promotional offers (such as a discounted first subscription) apply only to the first billing period for eligible accounts; renewals are charged at the full price.

6. Third-party services and links

Cookbook Social may interact with third-party services such as Google, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, OpenAI, Groq, Gemini, Railway, and payment providers.

When you submit a public source URL, you are responsible for having the right to use that content and for complying with the source platform's terms. For YouTube, Cookbook Social uses official YouTube API Services only for public metadata where configured and does not provide official access to transcripts, captions, or downloads for third-party videos.

Those services are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, billing, or behavior.

7. Service availability

The application is provided as is and as available. We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features at any time.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, data availability, or that AI-generated results will meet your expectations.

8. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and may schedule account deletion from settings. Account deletion has a 14-day restoration window.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, misuse the service, create risk for other users, or if technical, security, or legal reasons require it.

9. Refunds

All payments are final. Funds are non-refundable, except in cases expressly provided by applicable law.

10. General provisions

You must be able to enter into a binding agreement and meet the minimum age required in your country; minors may use the service only with a parent's or guardian's consent.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from AI output, third-party services, or your use of recipes (including allergens, ingredients, or food safety).

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the application after an update means you accept the updated terms.

12. Contextual advertising and sponsored content

Cookbook Social may show clearly labeled sponsored placements. Sponsored content is selected contextually, not through behavioral profiling or cross-site tracking.

Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy, legality, safety, and availability of their offers and destination links. We may reject, limit, hide, or remove campaigns that are misleading, unsafe, unlawful, or inconsistent with the service. Displaying sponsored content does not mean that we endorse the advertiser or guarantee the advertised product or service.

13. Nutrition reference data

The calorie reference shows nutrition data for basic food products and is available to all users. The calculator inside it, which sums up several products by weight, is a premium feature. The data is based on USDA FoodData Central, published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and available in the public domain. Part of the data comes from the Ciqual table published by ANSES (French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety) under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

Values are reference figures per 100 g of product and may differ from the actual composition of the food you use: variety, growing conditions, processing, and storage all affect nutrition.

This information is provided for general reference only and is not medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Do not rely on it to make medical decisions or to manage a health condition, allergy, or intolerance — consult a qualified professional instead.

14. API access

We offer paid programmatic access to the food reference catalogue. Access requires an API key issued to your account. A key is personal to your account: keep it secret, and do not embed it in client-side code or public repositories. You are responsible for all requests made with your key.

Each plan sets limits on requests per month and requests per minute. Systematic retrieval aimed at reconstructing the catalogue — in whole or in substantial part — is not permitted under an API subscription; bulk access to the full dataset is licensed separately. We may warn you, reduce limits, or revoke a key if it is used to circumvent these limits, or if usage threatens the stability of the service.

You may use the data in your own applications and cache it as needed for their operation. You may not resell or redistribute our contribution — the unified 41-field standard, the translations, the per-value provenance and the normalisation — as a standalone or derived database. This restriction does not limit the rights that the CC BY 4.0 licence itself grants you in the underlying Ciqual values: those you may reuse under that licence, provided its attribution is preserved. Every API response includes an attribution block, and it must not be stripped from any product that surfaces this data.

The API is provided on a best-effort basis, without a guaranteed level of availability, and without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may change endpoints, fields and limits; material changes will be announced in advance where reasonably possible.

15. App Store purchases

Digital subscriptions, credits, and other in-app purchases in the iPhone and iPad app are purchased through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple is the merchant of record for those purchases, and Apple's payment terms, taxes, refund process, family sharing rules where applicable, and App Store policies apply.

Subscriptions purchased through Apple renew automatically unless cancelled in your Apple ID subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not remove access already paid for during the current period. You can use Restore Purchases in the app to reconnect an active App Store purchase to your Cookbook Social account.

For digital goods used inside the iOS app, we do not direct you to an external web checkout. Web, Android, and iOS purchases may use different storefronts, tax handling, prices, promotions, refund tools, and management screens, while the paid entitlement in Cookbook Social remains account-based where technically supported.

16. Import suggestions and third-party content

Search results may include suggestion cards from other websites and from YouTube. These are previews of third-party content: the title, image, and metadata belong to their authors, each card is marked with its source logo, and that logo links to the original.

Pressing the import button starts a normal AI import with your credits, under the same rules as importing a link yourself. You are responsible for how you use the imported recipe and for respecting the rights of the original author.

Suggestions that come from YouTube are provided through the YouTube API Services. By using them you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) applies to that data. Video playback always happens in the official YouTube player. You can remove any data we stored about you, including imported recipes, by deleting your account.
